Spanakopita, yemista (baked stuffed vegetables), gyros, moussaka, haloumi, dolmades.

The food was great on Tilos, but a bit average elsewhere. The big beans were a revelation. I've taken some tins home and will be having those on my regular menu.

Loukemades (fried dough), bougatsa (pastry with custard), pasteli (sesame seed bar), halvi (semolina), baklava, kataifi (angel hair pastry).

The kataifi was delicious and I'll be looking for that back in Melbourne. The rest of the pastries were tasty, but quite similar in flavour, being flaky and syrupy.

The food was mostly tasty, but nothing special. The staff watched us eat, which was a bit freaky. The gay waiter who regaled us with tales of being a new drag queen and being out on the scene, was entertaining.

Seoul Soul in Northcote provided a good atmosphere with very cheerful and prompt service. The only drawback was the stool seating, which made my back ache. The Korean music was fun too. The food was delicious and the rice punch surprisingly tasty. the only disappointment was the kimchi fries. The kimchi was very spicy and the fries a bit bland without it.

Zil Zil: chicken breast strips, marinated in berbere, crumbed & dipped in white sesame seeds, served with Ethiopian salsa

Keysirr Wot: beetroot, carrot, potato & spinach, cooked with red onion, garlic & traditional herbs & spices
Difin Missar: black lentil cooked with onion, garlic, green chilli & herbs
Veggie Alecha: potatoes, carrot & spinach, cooked with tumeric, garlic, red onion & traditional spices
Doro Wot: chicken cooked in a rich red onion sauce, with ginger, tomato, garlic, traditional spices & boiled eggs, served with yoghurt
Fiyel Wot: goat stewed with red onion, garlic & berbere and chef's family's traditional seasoning
Doo Ba Wot: Beef & pumpkin stew, cooked with traditional spices, red onion & garlic

All mains served together with a salad in a large dish, layered with injera

Ethiopian Donuts: cinnamon, pine nuts & sultanas, caramelised in lemon juice, shallow fried in donut batter, served with ice-cream & maple syrup

The food was delicious, without being too spicy!

Soup: Matza ball soup

Main: Gam Gam moussaka - beef and eggplant, Massa'bacha - eggplant with chickpeas and techiba sesame sauce

Service was a bit slow. The antipasti and moussaka was delicious. We both disliked the soup and couldn't eat it.

Entree: Prawn crackers, Minced beef in vine leaf, Vegetarian spring rolls with lettuce

Main: Crispy chicken with spicy salt, Combination with cashew nuts and vegetables (prawns, calamari, beef, chicken)

The service was excellent. The food arrived quickly and was tasty, but quite spicy. No dessert, as the options were fairly mundane.

Entree: Mixed selection - samosas, badenjon bourani (eggplant in yoghurt), manton (pastry stuffed with meat), bolani (pan-fried turnover filled with leeks).

Main: Kebab Barg (lamb), Kahali Palau (rice dish with carrot, sultanas, almonds and chicken)

Dessert: Apple Delight (served with pistachio, walnuts and almonds)



The service was great. The meal was tasty, without being outstanding.

Empanadas are little pastry packages that are stuffed with a range of yummy ingredients and are really kind of just the Latino version of curry puffs.



Asado  Completo (Latin BBQ Ribs)  Great option if you like meat and want authentic Latin American food !
You have to love meat to eat here!

roz mekhalat and Roz bil sha-areya with a fresh garden salad.

 

Sweets Baklava & Turkish delight

Mostly enjoyable and tasty. We were tempted to try the shisha, but didn't. Probably wouldn't order the banquet next time.
