Country 31. Greece

Omeletta patatas - Potato omelette, Greek salad
Souvlaki, zucchini fritters

Big beans (gigantes), zucchini fitters, stale bread, artichokes, lamb

Pastries - flaky and syrupy
Spanakopita, yemista (baked stuffed vegetables), gyros, moussaka, haloumi, dolmades.

The food was great on Tilos, but a bit average elsewhere. The big beans were a revelation. I've taken some tins home and will be having those on my regular menu.


Loukemades (fried dough), bougatsa (pastry with custard), pasteli (sesame seed bar), halvi (semolina), baklava, kataifi (angel hair pastry).

The kataifi was delicious and I'll be looking for that back in Melbourne. The rest of the pastries were tasty, but quite similar in flavour, being flaky and syrupy.
